With more than 7000 volunteer-maintained relays in its worldwide infrastructure, the Tor network enables many to exercise fundamental freedoms online. The "Nos Oignons" non-profit organization aims to make "big" relays work in France.

Tor protects users' communications, and circumvents many methods of online censorship. Preventing access to the Tor network is difficult, and it can be used to access most of the internet. It also supports "hidden services", which are hard to restrain or censor, and can bypass limitations imposed by ISPs.
